Sunday School

Church of the Master offers various Sunday School opportunities from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. between the Casual Worship and Traditional Worship services.

If you are not presently attending one of the adult classes described below, you are cordially invited and encouraged to visit several classes to discover in which one you might experience an opportunity for special fellowship and increased understanding of Christian community.

Connections Class Sunday School

Searching for a group that focuses on a more comprehensive understanding of Scripture? Holy Scripture is central to the spiritual formation of the Connections participants.  Class model is structured so that members are encouraged to connect to God, to the Word, and to others. Beginnings will be the topic of study starting in January. The book of Genesis will serve as the foundation as the class explores the beginning of the universe, the beginning of humanity, the beginning of sin, and ultimately, the beginning of our need for divine grace. No book to purchase for this study, simply show up with your Bible! Searching for a group that focuses on a more comprehensive understanding of Scripture? Holy Scripture is central to the spiritual formation of the Connections participants. This could be the class for you! Class model is structured so that members are encouraged to connecto to God, to the Word, and to others. The Holy Spirit is the focus study this fall. Jim Cymbala's book When God's Spirit Moves will assist in guiding class conversations.

Seeker's Sunday School Class

Do you seek out a variety of tools for your spiritual formation? If so, then the Seeker’s Sunday school class may be for you! This group utilizes a variety of methods for engaging in transformative spiritual exploration. Leslie Weatherhead’s book Life Begins at Death will serve as the basis for conversation for the next class beginning on January 15.

John Wesley utilized a set of practices to fuel spiritual revival in eighteenth-century England as he sought to make Christ real to both the church and the culture. Ministering in a time when the church did not matter to most of the culture and did not transform the lives of those within it, Wesley’s practices have a lot to teach us today in what many would argue is a similar faith climate.

Interested in learning more about membership at Church of the Master? You are invited to join Pastor Anna and Pastor Jennifer for a pizza lunch to ask questions about the church or simply for fellowship! Then join Pastor Jennifer in the weeks following for the new member classes. The classes will explore what it means to be a United Methodist, focusing on core values and how to live out these values through Church of the Master.

Pizza lunch: Sunday, January 22
immediately following the 11a.m. Worship service. Meet at the parsonage located at 90 W. College.
New Member Class: January 29 – February 26
meets Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

Childcare and Sunday School are available during the new member class.

New members will take their vows and receive membership on Sunday, March 5, during either Worship service.
