Lenten Lunch: Three Simple Rules

In the Fellowship Hall - Description:
- Based on the Reuben Job book, Three Simple Rules, this study will focus on three rules: Do no Harm, Do Good, Stay in Love with God. This lunchtime program will include a light lunch of soup and bread, and a half hour of study. (Free will offering will be taken to cover costs.) Refocus on what is important this Lenten season with this class. Cost of the book is $5.

- A) We will reflect/discuss/study words and pictures in The Meaning of Life: Why We Are Here. This excellent compilation by LIFE Magazine has contributions from over one hundred people from all walks of life—truly passionate and provocative.
- B) We will also visit with some of the sixty people interviewed by Bob Abernethy for PBS’s Religion and Ethics NewsWeekly. In the Life of Meaning, the contributors speak candidly about their search for meaning in their own personal lives, their experience of God, and for some, the struggle to reconcile faith and doubt.

- Kevin Hamann, quite a Bible student at Xenos (and son of our own Ed and Jan Hamann) will lead a four session study/discussion of the New Testament book of Galatians. The study will meet every other week, beginning on January 27, 2010. If you have any questions about this study, you may contact Kevin at 614-314-6782. Kevin does suggest “bringing a Bible”; and wants to remind us that Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians was written to keep the doctrine of Grace at the center of Christianity. Come and enjoy this interesting study.

- Who is Jesus and what is his significance for our lives? Using Matthew’s Gospel as a starting point, this study explores how the New Testament writers and the early Christian community wrestled with the coming of Jesus—his life, actions, mission, death and resurrection. Participants have daily reading assignments to prepare for the weekly group session. The Study guide costs $10.
